Hi, I'm Karen!
I am a Masters-level Intern, who started my journey towards counselling ten years ago working in perinatal mental health care. This has given me a unique perspective on ways to build strong families and manage the challenges of life transitions. In addition, I offer support for depression, anxiety, postpartum issues, and burnout. My time working in healthcare research and disability advocacy has also prompted me to attune to the needs of people with neurodivergence and other exceptionalities.
My first career was in education, and I have taught infants through adults across three countries. I truly value diverse perspectives and am committed to providing inclusive, culture-affirming care. My eclectic approach utilizes elements of CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and person-centred care while considering clients' contexts.
I want to walk alongside you as we respond to the conditions of our changing world. My mission is to help you live according to your values within the many groups you belong to. Your family, career, community, and environment create both challenges and opportunities. You will be met with compassion, empathy, and hope for the future.
